Canadian National Exhibition (CNE)
The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) event continues to maintain resiliency and focus on strengthening the foundations on which it's 146-year history has been built.
Founded in 1879 as the Toronto Industrial Exhibition, the CNE is a not-for-profit organization and agricultural society that has enjoyed a distinguished history as a showcase of the nation. People came to experience the latest innovations in technology and commercial products, to enjoy the popular entertainers of the time, and to engage in a collective community celebration.
Although the CNE has changed significantly over the years, it continues to be one of Ontario’s great annual traditions and an event that offers substantial entertainment value for money. Taking place over the 18 days leading up to and including Labour Day, the CNE welcomes more than 1.42 million visitors annually - visitors who reflect the rich diversity of Toronto and the region.
The CNE event today features a spectacular display of both traditional and new programming elements. The nostalgic favourites include community sports, midway entertainment, wacky tasty treats, international performances, the SuperDogs, the Air Show and shopping galore! There is music and performances packed across eight variety stages and on the marquee CNE Bandshell stage, a Gaming Garage featuring free play opportunities and world class exhibits and attractions.
Additionally, as an agricultural society the CNE is committed to showcasing and celebrating agriculture with programs like: the Ambassador of the Fairs, the Farm - which features interactive exhibits showcasing trends in urban agriculture, providing an opportunity for guests to meet some farmyard animals.
We hope to continue to enrich our community by celebrating the past, showcasing the present and promoting the future.
