Guy started his career in the tourism industry in 1979. He boasts over 39 years of progressive and proactive leadership in tourism, recreation, leisure and cultural sectors.

As Manager Tourism & Events for the City of Timmins much has happened on the events and festival front. It all started with the celebration of 4 centennial milestones which he organized and led. In 2007 the City made a commitment to recognize, during the 2008-2012 period,100 years of Mine Exploration, 100 years of Mine Production, 100 years since the Great Porcupine Fire of 2011, and finally, in 2012, 100 years of Timmins. Two of the events which were developed and led by Guy, continue to this day and both are now considered marquis, signature events. The first was the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge was a one-day event that turned into a 3-day festival that attracts between 15,000 and 20,000 people. The Tourism Department oversaw the launch of a significant Canada 150 celebration. The City staged the biggest celebration in its history, an 8-day International Fireworks Competition and Music Festival, Stars & Thunder.

Guy has received many awards/recognitions: 2 time recipient of the Canadian Tourism Corporation Marketing Award, Ontario Trillium Award for Outstanding Membership Chair, Tourism Northern Ontario President’s Award along with many more recognitions over his career.
