Beginning with the beloved and magical Candlelight Walk, Port Hope's Candlelight Festival is a feel-good and accessible celebration of the coming of winter, and the official kick-off to the holiday season. The Candlelight Festival remains an intimate, family-oriented experience with a festive program.
Emphasis is placed on community-building and bringing people into the downtown core. With a broad, self-guided program, the Candlelight Festival offers four weeks of free wagon rides, free gift-wrapping services, public art, holiday shopping kicked off with an artisans vendor market, and the park light display, as well as the Candlelight Walk! The Candlelight Walk, in particular, boasts nighttime shopping hours, community caroling, indoor warming room with hands-on crafts, and refreshments as well!
