Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny is a 10km race along the Ganaraska River to commemorate the 1980 flood that devastated Port Hope’s downtown area. It celebrates the community spirit and resilience that rose in the face of this natural disaster.

Now, Ganny Weekend is a whole vibe in Port Hope!

Those looking to brave the frigid waters of the Ganaraska this spring are invited to visit the event website to review all safety guidelines and register a vessel. Race categories include canoe, kayak and crazy craft. www.floatyourfanny.ca

Itinerary:
10am - canoes/kayaks (starting at Canton)
11am - crazy crafts (starting at Sylvan Glen Rd.)
10am - 3pm - Fannyville amenities

Canoes, kayaks, and the ever-popular Crazy Crafts will complete the journey at the finish line in Fannyville (Cavan St Park).

Fannyville, the event village, offers family-focused entertainment and activities, as well as the chance to watch the participants float over the last rapids section of the course with live commentary.

Spectators will be able to enjoy food from one of the many vendors along the banks, or take a short walk to shopping, restaurants, or bars. Participants and spectators are asked to support each other to ensure all involved have a safe and enjoyable experience. Please no throwing of water balloons or objects into the river or at participants.

With large crowds in Fannyville along the banks of the Ganaraska River, spectators are encouraged to leave their pets at home. Please remain mindful and respectful of each other along the riverbank and throughout town.

For more information and to register visit www.floatyourfanny.ca

Please note, in the event of ice on the river, the event will be postponed to April 15, 2023.
