Position Overview
Festivals & Events Ontario (FEO) is seeking engaged individuals to serve as Board Members (Directors). Directors provide governance, strategic direction, and sector leadership for the organization.
This is an active, working Board, particularly during this period of transition, where members contribute through committees, sector engagement, and organizational initiatives.
FEO is particularly seeking supplier representation from within the festivals and events industry (e.g., production, staging, AV, logistics, marketing, food services), ensuring balanced sector perspectives at the Board table.

Key Responsibilities
Governance & Oversight
- Participate in Board meetings and decision-making
- Support strategic direction and organizational priorities
- Ensure compliance with bylaws and governance policies
- Contribute at both strategic and operational levels

Committee Participation
Board Members are expected to contribute through committees, including but not limited to:
- Conference Committee
- Awards Committee
- Finance Committee
- Advocacy Committee
- Participation in task groups or ad hoc committees as needed

Sector Leadership & Representation
- Act as an ambassador for FEO
- Represent the organization at industry events and forums
- Support membership growth and partnerships

Media, Promotion & Thought Leadership
Board Members may contribute to:
- Media and digital/web presence
- Presentations, panels, and seminars
- Industry advocacy and thought leadership initiatives

Commitment Expectations
- Attend 4–6 Board meetings annually (including AGM)
- Participate in committees and working groups
- Prepare by reviewing materials and research
- Stay informed on industry trends and opportunities
- Actively contribute to discussion and consensus-building

Eligibility & Qualifications
Required
- 21 years of age or older
- Strong commitment to the festivals and events sector as an economic driver
- Ability to work within a policy-governance model
- Willingness to serve in a volunteer capacity
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, team-based environment
- Sufficient time to fulfill Board responsibilities

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following are encouraged:
- Board Governance / Strategic Planning
- Organizational Management (HR, Finance, Risk, Change Management)
- Event Management
- Marketing / Advertising / Public Relations

- Supplier roles within the festivals and events industry

Compensation
- Volunteer role (pre-approved expenses covered)
