Aurora’s Haunted Forest: A Spine-Tingling Tradition
Now entering its 20th year, Aurora’s Haunted Forest has become a beloved autumn tradition that draws thousands of Halloween enthusiasts from across the region. What began as a modest community event has grown into a spectacular, multi-sensory experience that transforms Sheppard’s Bush Conservation Area into a thrilling landscape of fright and delight.
Hosted by the Town of Aurora, the event kicks off at the Aurora Family Leisure Complex, where families enjoy interactive indoor games and activities before boarding a shuttle to the forest. Once there, guests embark on the Family Trail—an enchanting path filled with whimsical spooks and creative displays designed to entertain all ages. But for those craving a deeper thrill, the trail splits… and the brave can enter the infamous Trail of Terrors, where eerie cabins, haunting scenes, and unexpected scares await.
Aurora’s Haunted Forest thrives thanks to the dedication of over 150 volunteers, strong community partnerships, and a commitment to inclusivity. More than 50 themed displays and decorated cabins are crafted with care, creativity, and passion—each one designed to mesmerize, entertain, and challenge the imagination. The event continues to evolve, embracing accessibility and diverse programming to ensure everyone can share in the magic.
From its humble beginnings to its current status as a signature town event, Aurora’s Haunted Forest is more than just a Halloween celebration—it’s a testament to community spirit, creativity, and the joy of shared experiences.
